How It Works

1

The Research

We research public records from Georgia counties, courts and other offices to find money that may be left over after a property was sold at a tax sale or foreclosure. Georgia law sets this money aside for the people who had an interest in the property, but some counties make it hard to find or difficult to obtain. Lists can be hard to locate or out of date, notices go to old addresses, and every county has its own forms and rules.

2

Finding You and Reviewing the Claim

When we find funds that may belong to you, we work to reach the former owner, or the family if the owner has died. We review the records to see who may be entitled and what the office holding the funds will require.

We can't promise that a claim will be approved or how much will be paid. Those decisions belong to the office or court holding the money. Unclaimed funds don't wait forever, though: tax sale excess funds go to the state after five years, and getting them back after that takes a court order.

3

Paperwork and Follow-Through

If you decide to work with us, our agreement is put in writing before any work starts. Our fee is contingency only: there is no upfront cost, the fee is a percentage of what is recovered, and if nothing is recovered you owe us nothing.

We prepare the documents the holding office asks for, help you get them signed and notarized, and work with a Georgia-licensed attorney where a county or court requires one. We keep you informed until the claim is resolved.

You can always file a claim yourself, and you're never obligated to use us.
